BlackHat Europe 2022 was the last conference of an eventful year for our team at Stamus Networks. It took place in ExCell London from 5-8 December and gathered cybersecurity experts from Europe to discuss the latest technology and trends in information security. This year, I represented Stamus Networks and attended the in-person event with our Chief Technology Officer - Eric Leblond. We were joined virtually by our Chief Marketing Officer - Mark Durrett and Digital Marketing Manager - Levi Wilson. With the event now behind us, we’d like to share our thoughts about the conference.
First, Stamus Networks was pleased to be the only network detection and response (NDR) vendor at the conference. This was a surprise for our team, but we didn’t have any issues with being the being the go-to vendor for large enterprises, utilities, banks and others who want to enhance their threat detection with NDR during the event. We noted that a large percentage of the vendors consisted of start-ups and small companies that were involved in application security and SecDevOps. There was also a significant amount of messaging surrounding software supply chain attacks.
Second, our expectations for this conference primarily attracting a local UK audience were far surpassed as we met with delegates from many European countries, such as France, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, The Netherlands, and more! The conference also enabled us to meet many customers and prospects face-to-face to discuss industry challenges, networking monitoring tools such as SELKS, Suricata, and our security platform.
Finally, we were excited to have another opportunity to showcase our new book, “The Security Analyst’s Guide to Suricata,” which was written by our CTO, Eric Leblond and CSO, Peter Manev. Many at the event not only had an opportunity to receive a copy of the hardcover book (printed in limited quantities), but also to ask Eric questions about the open-source tool and have him sign their copy of the book. You can find out more about the book and download a copy of it in PDF or eReader format here.
Overall, BlackHat Europe 2022 did not disappoint in terms of organization and presence. It was great to be able to meet some of our existing and new users in-person and under one roof and to better understand the current challenges of NDR users. We’re hopeful that Black Hat Europe 2023 will bring together more NDR vendors and presentations.
Lastly, I want to thank everybody that stopped by our booth to say “Hi” or to have a discussion with our team. We are happy we had the chance to meet you and we hope to see you again next year!
