Feature Spotlight: Custom Report Generator

In today’s digital landscape, enterprise networks produce an overwhelming volume of data when monitored by a Network Detection and Response (NDR) solution. However, this information often becomes a double-edged sword, as sifting through it for actionable insights can be a daunting task. Without effective tools, these buried insights can lead to missed alerts and delayed responses.

The Custom Report Generator, a new feature in the Stamus Security Platform, is designed to help security teams better collaborate over this vital data. By enabling users to create reports that display  information clearly and concisely, this tool helps multiple stakeholders to easily share vital insights.

What is the Custom Report Generator?

The Custom Report Generator, based on the Jupyter notebook technology and built into release U40, empowers users to create and periodically run custom reports on any and all data within the Stamus Security Platform (SSP), including alerts, infrastructure reports, Declarations of Compromise (DoCs), and Declarations of Policy Violations (DoPVs).

Simply navigate to the Reporting section of SSP and upload a Jupyter Notebook to start generating tailored reports.

Stamus Networks customers, interested in running reports, should follow these steps:

Get started with the first report:

  • Contact your Customer Success Manager or Stamus Networks Customer Support for the Jupyter Notebook template, or create your own custom report in Python.
  • Upload your notebook to the Reporting section of SSP.
  • Run your report once or on a recurring schedule.

To begin using the custom report generator, SSP users can create their own Jupyter playbook or contact Stamus Networks support or their Customer Success Manager to create a custom made report tailor made for their reporting purposes.

Stamus Security Platform's Custom Report Generator empowers security teams to gain deeper insights into their network traffic, user behavior, and threat activity. By aggregating data from multiple probes into a single view, you can more easily identify and respond to threats. The detailed reports enable faster identification of suspicious activities, reducing response time and providing valuable information for prioritizing and taking targeted action. Additionally, custom reports facilitate information sharing across teams, creating a documented trail of security incidents and responses.

Conclusion

In a network immersed with data, the challenge lies not in gathering information, but in deciphering it. Raw data, devoid of context, is akin to searching for a needle in a haystack. The Stamus Security Platform’s custom report generator transforms your data into clarity, empowering security teams to extract meaningful insights from their network data. By converting data into actionable insights, teams can swiftly identify anomalies and suspicious activities, effectively communicate their findings to management and peers, and enhance their incident response strategies. With the right tools, navigating the complexities of threat detection becomes not just manageable, but a strategic advantage. If you have not yet upgraded to Stamus Security Platform U40, then we strongly encourage you to do so to get the most out of the new features.
